Volvo drivers enjoy the convenience of their key fob's remote that comes with features. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine and even locate it.

Place the key fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that releases it, place an object between the fob and the cover and pull it up slowly.

Unlocking the Door

Volvo's remote keyfobs can unlock your vehicle's tailgate, doors and flap for filling up with fuel at the press of a button. Remote key fobs can also switch on the ignition and activate the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof, provided it's equipped. You'll never again have to search for your keys, or have to worry about locking out of your vehicle.

If you own a brand new Volvo model that we have in our dealership, then you may be unfamiliar with some of its key fob's hidden features. One of them is a manual lock/unlock button that you can use in the event that the battery of your key fob fails.

To press the manual lock/unlock switch, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find the black button that is on the outside of the key fob body, and gently press it to open a cover which conceals a manual key blade. You'll need a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise, ensuring that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Start the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an unbeatable level of convenience and functionality that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, as with any battery-powered electronic device key fobs can lose its charge, or cease working over time. If you notice that your key fob is less responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace its battery.

You can enable this feature using the key fob in case your car has a dealer installed Engine Remote Start. The car will heat or cool to the same temperature it was set to while it was parked. It will it can run for up to 15 minutes.

Remove it by sliding it downwards and then to the right. The cover will break loose, and then slide off to reveal the manual blade! Volvo key fobs have an option that hides behind them that allows you to immediately roll down all windows. This is helpful in situations where you need to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply want fresh air while driving.

To unlock the windows simply press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and the sunroof, if your car has one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. This will produce a loud noise that will attract attention and deter thieves. It also helps you return to your home in a safe manner in the event that you've been away all night. This feature comes in handy should you live in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or you want to safeguard your family members while they are away.

Opening the Tailgate



Volvo's key fob comes with useful features. These are ideal when you're busy shopping for groceries or helping your kids pack up their sports equipment after practice.

If you have the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it using the key fob. Simply press the button to open it, and then use the same button to close it once you're done.

Use the key fob whenever you are ready to start your vehicle. (Don't worry if your battery is dead or if the car won't start since it also has an electronic key slot). This is one of the many tricks that can be useful for your brand new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are much more efficient than a traditional car key. They can't always function perfectly and batteries may be dead. If you're in a hurry and do not want to visit a store to have your key fob reprogrammed you can attempt to make it work at home.

Place your key fobs as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button at the lower left corner of the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the key blade's mechanical mechanism underneath.

You can open all the doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. The lock button also shuts the sunroof and windows (if equipped) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owners manual should contain a procedure to reset the alarm.
